The chapel of Ayios Ioannis Theologos was built on a low hill in the area be-
tween Stenokampia and Fikardou. A very small, single-nave temple made
with local mountain stones and ceramic tile fragments, much like the Church
of Apostles Petrou kai Pavlou in Fikardou. The chapel had a single nar-
row door in the west (just 0,88m) and two windows; one in the north and
one in the arch. The temple was restored at the end of the 20th century.
In 2005, two nuns saw the secluded chapel and, after securing permission from the local Bishopric, they resided there and
used the chapel as a sanctuary and started renovating it. Many donated towards the constructions and others volunteered for
the works. The Church of Apostles Petrou kai Pavlou in Fikardou helped raise funds and graciously donated the icon of Apos-
tles Peter and Paul that adorns the iconostasis of the temple. In the following years, the sanctuary grew significantly until in
2011 the small chapel was demolished and made way for the construction of the new Monastery of Ayios Ioannis Theologos.
