The house of Achilleas Dimitri is a n Ancient Monument Schedule A (gov-
ernment property). The restoration of the house was carried out for the first

time in the 70s using traditional materials and modern construction meth-
ods. The architecture of the house was preserved in its original form. The

house has been restored with a grant from the A.G. Leventis Foundation.
On the ground floor, the stable and storehouses with wine jars and other
agricultural utensils and tools were preserved. The first floor was used as
a weaving workshop, while the rest of the space was converted into a stu-

dent hostel. In order to properly equip the house, old furniture from houses
in other nearby villages and original works of folk art were used. Together

with the House of Katsinioros they form the Rural Museum of Fikardou
and have been awarded with the 1987 Europa Nostra International Award.
