              Village Layout

The entrance to the village is in the south, at the meeting point of the wind-
ing roads from the villages of Klirou and Gourri. The inner branching is be

made up of narrow, cobbled streets, suitable only for pedestrians and animals.
The road network of the village consists of the central road axis crossing from
north to south, which is bounded by two parallel, narrower roads at differ-

ent elevations that communicate with the central one. The layout of the nar-
row, cobbled streets does not exceed four meters in width, while the smallest
street width is almost two meters. The area is characterized by the strong slope

of the ground and the road patterns that follow the shape of the natural relief.

The main axis, as well as the two parallel ones that flank it, are the

longest, parallel to the curves of the mountainous relief, in con-
trast to the roads that are perpendicular to them, which are character-

ized by a dangerously steep slope that makes vehicle access impossible.

The village square, as it is typical in Cypriot traditional settlements, is in the precinct of the church. The church has a
small courtyard that is telling of the village’s small population. There In the recent years, works to create a main road
axis from the north to the south entrance of the village, altered the layout of the village right outside of the core, and

created a new small square on the north entrance to the village right outside the village taverna.
